BAMM Overview

Welcome to the Business Alignment Maturity Model©! The Model,, as we will refer to it, was created back in the mid-nineties to help me communicate how the many moving parts of our organization needed to work together in order to achieve our desired results. At that time, I was leading a team of over 200 engineers and data specialists supporting all of Sprint’s business clients west of the Mississippi River out to the West Coast. As a systems thinker, I needed a way to communicate how our part of the business fit into the bigger organizational picture in a way that was both comprehensive, yet easy to explain.



Why Business Alignment? Far too many leaders try to correct the issues in their businesses in isolation. It is akin to treating a symptom rather than looking at where the real issue lies. We use the Model in our Leadership and Business Coaching practice because we see too many organizations, both for-profit and non-profit, large or small, talking around, or speaking to, business alignment in vague terms. It is a topic that, in today’s dynamic business, political and economic environment, is difficult to execute because it involves multiple moving parts working together in unison to achieve success. In essence, this is about the leadership required to achieve business alignment because it is through effective leadership that sustainable business success occurs.
