What to Read

Right before the 2009 Christmas holidays, a good friend of mine gave me a book that, after reading it, I look forward to sharing with you.  In line with the topic of this month's discussion, "Mastering the Rockefeller Habits" by Verne Harnish is a good book to gain further understanding of Strategy.  In this case, the author makes a solid case for what to think about when developing a strategy for growth.

Of note are his thoughts on alignment of the strategy with Purpose and Values as well as the need for simplicity.  Essentially the habits are built around Priorities (what are the top 3 - 5 for the year/quarter etc.), Data (daily/weekly for regular insight to progress) and Rhythm (is there a flow to the business and how it is managed).  If you can take one idea around the context behind these habits and apply them to your organization it will be well worth the read.

Enjoy the Book!
