In the spirit of establishing Trust to create engaged employees, My reading recommendation is a book I've had for awhile and found quite useful when looking for inspiration in how to better engage those around me. The secret to "Love 'Em or Lose 'Em, Getting Good People to Stay" by Beverly Kaye and Sharon Jordon-Evans is in the simplicity of its organization and content. The authors create 26 ideas and concepts wrapped each letter of the alphabet to illustrate actionable ideas to help motivate and engage associates.
My particular favorites are (D)ignity, (Q)uestion and (V)alues. Dignity speaks to showing respect and directly addresses the importance of Trust. Question speaks to reconsidering the rules in an effort to see where the status quo may be the reason for employee disengagement. And lastly, Values speaks to defining and aligning the values of the organization with personal values to achieve the alignment that promotes the level of engagement needed for success.
Each of the 26 sections has helpful To-Dos to bring a level of context to each set of ideas. The (Z)enith chapter then proposes a Retention Probability Index to provide you with some actionable ideas relative to your specific circumstances.
Enjoy the Book!
