As I spend more time looking at the leadership implications of the post recession global economy, it occurred to me that many of the ideas and attitudes I have in this context came from a book I recently re-read, "BLUR" by Stan Davis and Christopher Meyer. This book first provided the attitude that the world is getting smaller, moving faster, becoming more connected and change-prone as time goes on.
 
My favorite chapter in this book relates to the topic of this newsletter, that of People.  Specifically it speaks to the idea of the Free Agent in today's economy and how people are developed to succeed in an economy where the rules are dramatically different than many of us knew coming into the workplace.  Although it was first published over 10 years ago, upon re-reading it recently I couldn't help but see where all four generations in today's workplace would benefit from reading it!
